About lotek

LotekLogosmall
The band’s first stirrings were in Nelson, New Zealand, in 2001, with a line up of Drums, Bass and two Guitarists who were ready to change the history of how we interpret noises. After several changes to the group, surviving members Rich Kendrick (bass) and Dion Te Momo (guitar) now team up with Chris Pierson (Drums) and Doug Stenhouse (keys) playing spontaneous, insane-eous, membrane-eous, never the same-eous, jazz based grooves. The word jazz is loosely used here as it only describes the spirit in which the music is played. The tunes, which get fed into the lotek convertertron 1200 (pat. Pending) are churned up, sliced, diced, spiced and spat out in a display of sonic wizardry.

Not for the faint of heart, the thick of brain or narrow of mind type beings. One must listen, feel and enjoy the lotek experience. If you have heard them before, you will not hear them again as they continue to bend, twist, mutilate, exasperate, dissipate, destroy and recreate the tunes you thought you knew. The bands two CDs serve only as an historic account of what happened, what could have happened and what should never happen in public places with children present.

The band is always striving for perfection, never quite reaching it as they veer off into other realms before achieving it, keeping the music fresh, intense, alive, uncontrived and indescribable!
